Taoufik's Journey
Participating in the European volunteering program at La Xixa has been one of the most enriching experiences of my life. From the very beginning, I felt drawn to the idea of being part of a project that uses art as a tool to transform realities and address social issues.
During the 12 months I spent as a volunteer, I had the opportunity to get involved in diverse and meaningful projects. I participated in the logistical management of workshops and events, performed in plays like I’m Not Racist, But…, and collaborated on the creation of a play in Catalan with local youth. I also worked on the Rassif on Stage project, promoting the rights of migrant minors, where I not only performed but also supported coordination and translation.

This experience allowed me to improve my acting skills and helped me grow personally. I learned to work in a team, manage responsibilities, and appreciate the richness of interculturality. Additionally, completing my training as a facilitator and taking a free-time activity leader course opened new doors for me both professionally and personally.
Of course, there were challenges, such as adapting to a new environment and handling multiple responsibilities, but thanks to the support of the La Xixa team, I always felt like part of a community that guided me every step of the way.
I recommend this volunteering program to anyone passionate about art and eager to make a positive impact. The experience is much more than a cultural exchange; it’s an opportunity to grow, learn, and leave a mark on the world through theater.
I am deeply grateful to the La Xixa team—my mentors, directors, and colleagues—who made me feel at home from day one. If you’re considering volunteering, my advice is to go for it and live this unique experience.
You won’t regret it!
